Little Explorers (Our Preschool)
Exploring Nature, the Arts and Our Community

Curriculum & Philosophy

Located in the mid-peninsula of the San Francisco Bay Area, Little Explorers Adventures is a twice-weekly adult/child learning and exploration program. This program facilitates healthy child development through field-trip adventures and follow-up learning experiences. The Little Explorers program takes advantage of a child's natural sense of wonder and innate curiosity to connect them with the outdoors, enable them to explore their community and to develop their natural creativity. Each weeks' theme co-ordinates with the field trip activity and experiences during the 'nursery school' day. Children will freely explore with open-ended projects. For example:

Day One ................................ ..Day Two

  • Berry Picking..............................Berry Pie & Berry painting
  • Fire station tour .......................Emergency & 911 awareness
  • Garden Tour.............................. Plant vegies & make Stone Soup
  • Visit farm with chickens...........Incubate & hatch eggs

Each Week Shows Cause and Effect

The first class of the week provides our children with the opportunity to become familiar with a variety of preschool themes related to the field trip location. Activities are provided in a play-based setting, and include art projects, dramatic play, sensory play, a science corner, manipulatives, music, and story-time in a classroom environment. The second class of the week will be an outing to a variety of natural or community locations.
